what is meant by sanatan dharma?

No country has such a civilization with  free flowing thought process, independence of  thought systems and ever green  customs& beliefs as like india.
its a great confluence of civilizations having common thread of vedic or sanatan or eternal faith .
Waves of invasions:
Many invaders came, some are cruel to the core and destroyed the literature, icons and symbols of vedic faith.
few others came and mingled with local people and transformed and gelled with indian civilization.
some sects came to conquer and  brought  their culture and no problem indian people grabbed with folded hands.

India is a cradle to blossoming eternal belief systems- vedic,budhist,jain,sikh,- and was an inspiration to other religions -islam,christianity,confucius,tao,zen,zorashtrism,etc...

Indian civilization is eternally blossoming humanhood as like river ganga.

The gayatri mantra sookta clearly denotes- that every mind should be open to good thoughts where ever they coming from. one should be open minded to goodness. one should not be restrictive and narrow minded.
what is meant by sanatan dharma?
it's eternal  full real truth . not broken or pieces of truth. knowing, observing and finally being with eternal truth/ dharma is the way and goal of indian/ hindu life.
the knowledge stream generated by indian seers is enormous and mind blowing.one can't master these in one's life time.
these doctrines were classified as-

The primary doctrines  of Sanathana Dharma includes -  Vedas, Sixteen Brahmanas, four Aranyakas, One Hundred and Eight  Upanishads,  Six  Vedangas, five Upavedas, eighteen  Mahapuranas, eighteen  Upapuranas, six Darsanas, eighteen Smritis and two Ithihasas.
Bhagavad geeta is the pure essence of all the above preached by none other than divine lord Sri Krishna..
No other civilization on this earth has such a vast all -round  knowledge.
